Axioo Picophone M4P - a stylish, yet inexpensive smartphone

Screen and Design

Launched as a low-end smartphone, the Picophone comes with an elegant design. Ergonomically designed display with bended body makes the Picophone M4P comfortable to be hold. At the top of the display, you can find a front camera and speakerphone. There are three soft keys you can find at the bottom of the display. They function as recent apps, home, and back. Move to the right side, there is one physical button that function as power. One more physical button, which can be used to control sound volume, can be found in the left. Unlike other smartphone, Axioo puts USB port at the top alongside with 3.5 jackaudio port. At the back, there are main camera, loud speaker and the Axioo logo. The Picophone M4P does not come with unibody design which means that you can remove the back cover of it. Axioo adds a bumper on each side of its body to protect it when it collides. At least, it can reduce possible damage that can happen from your daily use.

The Picophone M4P uses a 5-inch HD IPS LCD as the display, making it capable of displaying images as in reality. The display is also able to show quite sharp images even under the sun. There is no glass protector installed for the display which means that you should buy and install it yourself.

Software and Processor

To help the device running, the Picophone M4P relies on the Android Lollypop. There is no modification found in its user interface. It uses a default Android homescreen. You won’t find many bloatwares – pre-installed applications - found in the device unless you ask the distributor to install some apps for you.

The Picophone M4P uses a low-end standard processor from Spreadtrum. It is a four-core ARM Cortex A7 that is able to reach 1.2GHz speed. The processor is supported with 2GB RAM, making multitasking not a problem. Want to play a game? Don’t worry! A Mali-400 MP2 is ready to provide power to run games you want to play. For heavy games, you will find several lags during the game. To avoid lags, just play not-too-heavy games. In short, Axioo Picophone M4P is a low-end high-performance smartphone.

Camera

The Picophone M4P comes with an 8-megapixel main camera with an LED flash. Equipped with autofocus, Axioo Picophone M4P is able to capture your best moment with bokeh – blur in the out-of-focus parts of an image – effect. Its autofocus may not be the fastest one, but it can give you satisfying picture which is instagramable – great to be posted on Instagram.

There is nothing special in its front camera. It is only equipped with a 2-megapixel camera lens without LED flash. Maybe, Axioo provides this camera only for video chatting purpose, not for selfie. Yet, it has a small camera lens, it doesn’t mean that the quality is bad. The quality of pictures and videos taken with its front camera is good, but not special. In conclusion, the Picophone M4P is not made for you, selfie seekers.

Storage and Battery

To store all your data, the Picophone M4P is equipped with a huge 16GB original internal storage. The storage which is available for you is 13GB. Do you think it is not enough? You don’t need to worry. You can still expand the storage by inserting an sdcard up to 32GB. Well, you can whoa. To me, that storage is more than enough for daily use, as long as you do not store all films in it.

To reduce the cost, this aspect seems to be sacrificed. A Li-Ion battery with 2,000 mAh is used to supply the energy for the Picophone M4P. It can only last for about five to six hours for normal use like chatting and internet browsing. If you love traveling and often forget to charge your smartphone, I suggest that you always bring a powerbank as the additional energy for your smartphone.

Axioo Picophone M4P is an affordable stylish smartphone with high-performance hardware. Its camera can take a satisfying picture quality that can satisfy your photography and instagramming pleasure.
